Returning Home After Two Months - Driving The Civic Again
I was away from home for nearly two months and just this afternoon I made a nice, leisurely drive in my Civic. Where was I? I spent 45 days journeying across America on a bicycle, beginning in San Diego, California and finishing in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Once I begin creating trip reports from the ride, I will be sure to include them on this web site. Special thanks to Derrick and Annie for generously keeping my car on their driveway as I was gone. I snapped a photo of it this afternoon with Mt. Columbia way out there in the background.
I visited my gym to see this map of the USA. After each ride, I sent a text message to the owners of the gym, detailing how far I traveled each day. It was so inspiring to me to know that there was a line crossing the USA on the map as I peddled eastward.
I thought I'd document the large amounts of snow that are still remaining in my part of Colorado. Here's the Civic parked in front of a snowdrifted blockade on Cottonwood Pass Road. The road typically opens on Memorial Day weekend in late May for vehiclular traffic, and it is a popular spot for snowmobilers to embark on their hobby while snow is plentiful. Oh and lastly, after being gone for two months, I could still smell a distinct new car smell upon getting inside. That's not too shabby considering I bought it last October! -Steve
