The Panic Button On The Key

Panic Button

The Panic Button! I am sure there are times and situations where this feature might come handy, but honestly, I can't think of many. The gadget is simple: Click the red button and the car horn will continue to beep like an alarm as if something is wrong. The only way to stop it from beeping is to press the panic button again one more time.

Of course, with my luck, the first time I ever pushed the panic button was inadvertently while sitting in my car in front of a Chinese restaurant in western Kansas. At first, I had no idea what was going on and I got out of the car, locked and unlocked the car and eventually fumbled among my keys to press the panic button. A few people were looking at me strangely (or perhaps annoyingly at the noise) and I felt bad ... what if they thought I was trying to steal my own car?!

Today I finally got around to testing the panic button and learned how it works. (I couldn't find instructions anywhere in the car manual.) I drove to a fairly isolated and open stretch of road as seen in the photo above and pressed the button a few times. I wanted the noise of the horn to be out of ear's distance from most people! ;)

Oh ... and look at all the snow out there. It's been a very snowy December thus far!
